Master thesis projects
Micropos Medical, Göteborg, develops a magnetic tracking system for organ positioning during radiation treatment of cancer patients. The system consists of a transmitting coil implanted near the tumor and an external unit which includes a sensor array. The system can position the implant and thus the tumor in real time, which can lead to improved treatment results.
In cooperation with Chalmers University of Technology in Gothenburg the following master thesis proposals are available:
Algorithm design for an organ positioning system
Aim: The positioning is formulated as an optimization problem where the misfit between measured signals and modeled signals are minimized by varying the implant position in the system model. In this project, different types of system models will be developed and tested. Furthermore, different techniques for solving the optimization problem will be evaluated. Data from the real system as well as synthetic data will be used.
